Deanna Downer and C.D. Taylor are living in Ontario, Canada. They have written two collections from poetry from their past
and another at in the present day. With passing time the collections express how time changes who we are
and our expectations. Full graphics for each poem are provided.
My name is C.D. Tayor and Deanna Downer, I am proud to say is my mother. Mom was
cleaning out the attic of our family home the other day and came upon poetry that
we wrote in days long since gone.
When I went to dinner on Sunday, she brought them out with a grin and asked
if I needed a good laugh. Only we didn’t laugh but neither did we cry.
We survived so much and have gotten so far. The words that she discovered
sounded like they belonged to someone else.
My mom nearing 80 and I just turned 55 and the poems were 2 lifetimes past.
Still, we remembered the good times and brushed away the bad.
When I told my friend, Elizabeth Hasby, a published poet; the story, she suggested
I send it to her publisher.
My mom agreed and here they are. You will find love, laughter, tears but most
of all you will find LIFE.
There were too many poems to be published in one book so look for the second
collection, THE PAIN HAS PASSED. This one covers the fear, the grief and the road to freedom mom had to battle.
This is for you Mom in thanks for loving me and being there. Especially for understanding that life gets too busy to always show how much you mean to me.
